Social Networks and Social Construction of Technology

Comparative studies focussing on the social construction of technical innovation identify processes which accompany the implementation of new technologies. Typically, these processes encompass three steps: development, stabilization and application of new technologies. Each step is characterised by the formation and support of specific social networks. Crucial for the success of a technological innovation are the mechanisms of the closure and opening of networks.
